Something New

I’m kind of a creature of habit so when something that has been working all of the sudden is not working anymore, it’s hard for me to change that routine. However, at this point I have to change it up. I’ve counted points in the past (weight watchers) and it’s a great program, it definitely works. The only problem I encountered was that when I stopped counting the weight slowly came back, but this is a whole new ballgame now with the aide of the Lap-Bank® so I am going to give counting points a try again.

Here is the breakdown of the amount of points I get……

  • 2 points for being a woman
  • 4 points for being between the ages of 17-24
  • 1 point for being between the heights 5’0” – 5’9”
  • 17 points because you take the first 2 # of your weight (keep going up and down between 169 and 170 so I just went with 170)
  • 0 points because I have a sedentary job
That is a grand total of 24 points I am allowed for the day. I’ve been using this website for calculating how many points are in what I am eating.

I am a HUGE advocate for the Lap-Band® but I also don’t think it’s the only thing that can help people loose weight but now that I have this band it will help me with self control and when I stop counting points I won’t gain the weight back because I have the band, that is so relieving!

I won’t be weighing in tomorrow as this post pretty much lets you know I am still dealing with this stubborn plateau. I will report back next week and hopefully after a week of points counting I will have good news!!!

I think Weight Watchers is an excellent program, but like you I had issues just as soon as I stopped counting. Good luck! It's something I have thought about doing as well.

I lost weight until January without really trying. I didn't write anything down. But then I hit 180 and the weight loss slowed to a crawl. I've managed to lose another 11 lbs. since January by tracking my food and trying to increase my exercise. I've also increased my water consumption. It is frustrating to have to work so hard for it, but I guess the alternative is being content with where I'm at and I guess I'm not quite there. I know you are and I weigh the same weight so I hope it makes you feel better to know you aren't alone. It sounds like you've got a great plan to get through this!

I definately think WW is a good program and it does help initially to just be more mindful of eating. I know I lost a bunch of weight on WW before, but like you, I gained it again when I got tired of counting. Good luck, you'll do well!
