My 2nd Fill & 8 Wks Post Op

So I just got home from Lahey, where I got my 2nd fill today. They added an additional 1 1/2 cc's to my band which gives me a total of 4cc's now in my 10cc band. Originally I was a little disappointed that it could not have been more but Corrine (my nurse practitioner) assured me that it is better to go slow with fills. She said that if you get too much in, that too tight restricted feeling will not go away until you have taken fluid out, but if you do it nice and slow and gradual you will build restriction which will not make you feel uncomfortable. So I am happy with that. I am on liquids today, but once I start eating tomorrow I will let you know if I feel anything. In all honesty I am not expecting to feel anything but hopefully at the very least I won't feel as hungry as I have been.

I think it's really important to keep in mind everyone, the band is like backwards when comparing it to the weight loss of a gastric bypass patient. Gastric patients loose a lot fast and then it slows down, Lap Band patients loose slowly and then as they get more fills they loose more and more. So think of it this way.....if you are loosing slowly, it will only get faster! Corrine said I am right on track as far as weight loss goes. She said that you are suppose to loose 1-2lbs per week and here I am at 8wks post op and and down almost 20lbs so I have lost more than 2lbs per week, which rocks so I am happy!!!

p.s. here is a pic of my incisions (8wks post op)
and if you click the pic it gets bigger

That is good that you got 1 1/2 cc's. My appointment for yesterday was canceled because the doctor who is visiting our office called in sick. They said they would call me when she said she would be back. I am hoping I don't have to wait too long. I had fluid taken out in early June and since then my restriction has been very little. Hang tight and soon you'll be at your sweet spot.

That is a great way of explaining fills.

I'm typically of the, "Once I know what I want, I want it" variety so thinking of fills as a slow adjustment towards the right level of restriction makes a lot of sense.

Holy, your incision scars look great. If that's how they look post op 8 wks, than I think that within 6 months they won't even be visible.

You are doing fabulous!!!! Yay! I've lost 18 lbs (after going up and down a few times) in 8 weeks so that's 2.25 lbs/wk so I guess that's coolio! Your scars do look good. I have 4cc in my 10 cc band right now so we are right at the same, hehe. I'll get my 2nd fill next week. Good luck!!!!

I also have four mls (cc's) in my band and like you was bemoaning the fact the doc goes so slow.. but now I'm glad. I really felt this last 1 ml fill so happy he didn't give me 2 like I wanted lol. You're looking so great.. and fantastic explanation about the slow going of fills.
