My name is Breanne and I am 27 years old. I was born, raised
and still live in Northeastern Massachusetts. I loathe the cold weather and
snow, but hey it’s where my family is so I decided to stick around. When I
retire I’ll get my condo in Florida! ; )
As a child I was a normal weight as it wasn’t until around
the age of 8 I became “chubby”. From that point on I slowly gained and throughout
my mid-teens I consistently carried an extra 30-40lbs on me. When I turned 16 I
joined weight watchers and in 3 months I got down to 159lbs. That was the
smallest I had ever been and it felt great!
I met my now husband when I was 18 years old and by that
time had regained most of what I lost with weight watchers. I don’t know exactly how much I weighed at the
time; my guess is around 180lbs. Well, we fell in love and became so infatuated
with each other that I stopped thinking about dieting and exercise. The next
thing I knew we were engaged and I was 252lbs! I felt ashamed, embarrassed,
sad, angry, out of control, and helpless.
In 2007 while watching TV I saw a commercial for Lap Band
and I started looking into it. I was still on my parents insurance as I wasn’t
married yet. As I looked into whether or not it was covered under their plan I
got cold feet and never took any steps further. After I saw my wedding pictures
and being on a new insurance plan I was finally feeling motivated to really
look into the Lap Band. In Dec. 2008 I went to my first seminar and on June 19,
2009 I was banded!
My goal weight was 138lbs and as of Aug. 2012 I was down to
149lbs. At the same time I had a lot of stress in my life and lost my way and as
of June 2014 I was back up to 180lbs. However, I’m very happy to report that I’m
100% back on track and have reevaluated my goal weight and it’s now 148lbs. For
anyone banded out there you have to remember that your band is only your
cheerleader. It can cheer you on from the sidelines but if you aren’t playing
the game you can’t win!
