Burping
So I have this crazy diet that they gave me at the hospital...this week I am only suppose to be eating things like sherbert, yogurt, pudding, and creamy soups. Well let me tell you I have had enough. I am also suppose to be drinking this protein supplement which is hideous, no joke! I can't get it down it's so awful. Well I am feeling 100% other than being exhausted because I've had NO protein in 2 weeks, so I decided to eat something soft like eggs and chew chew chew and see what happened. Guess what happened, nothing! I feel so normal I can't even explain it lol. The sherbert, yogurt, pudding and soups had no nutritional value and I was so hungry and felt awful, I feel so much better eating a little more normally. I know I am still healing inside although I can't feel it, so I am taking it very very slow. I did notice that I was getting very burpy, which has been a weird experience. Like every time I eat something I have to burp and I can't always just burp, it just comes up when it wants to. Not really my ideal situation. So someone on lapbandtalk had suggested that I eat even smaller amounts because I may be getting restriction from the swelling even though there is no saline in my band. I liked that suggestion so I'm going to give it a try. Another thing I noticed is that I get no signs of a full feeling while I am eating but about 10 minutes after I am done (sometimes) I get super full! Then I burp a whole bunch so I guess it's not the food as much as it is the air trapped inside my stomach. So like I said I am going to tone it back just a little bit and eat even less and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for reading!

1 Week Post Op
So I am 1 week post op now, and am really starting to feel good. I went to Lahey Clinic today for my 1 week visit and they said nothing but good things about how I am doing. I found out that my first fill will be on July 21st (4 weeks post op) and actually I know when my 2nd fill will be too, August 21st! I'm really thrilled that the fill schedule they are making for me seems to be every 4 weeks. They said fills would be every 4-6 weeks and I was really hoping it wouldn't be the 6 weeks.
After my visit to Lahey I had to go to the grocery store to buy all the new things I can start eating, yay no more broth and jello!!! Today I bought, sherbet, cream based soups, sugar free pudding, and yogurt!!! So far I had a little bit of the sherbet, that went down easy and it's oh so good lol so I will really have to limit myself on that one. Then I had cream of chicken soup, one cup. The soup was really wonderful. It made me feel really good, even though it was just a creamy soup it was the first thing I have had that really had some substance.
I was suppose to go back to work on Monday, but still being on the pain meds I can't go back just yet because I can't drive on pain meds. As my doctor said, policemen really frown upon that lol. Also, because of where my incisions are, and my job being a seated job, it would not feel great to be sitting still for that long. Therefore I will most likely being going back on Wednesday July 1st.
Well I guess that is all for now. Hey I just wanted to put this out there, if anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Just leave a comment with your questions and I will get back to you via blog! Hope you all are well!!!

Hey Guys!
Thanks so much for your messages of concern, they really mean a lot!!! I got home from the hospital Saturday night (36 hours after surgery). I had a lot of pain so they wanted to make sure it was manageble before they sent me on my way. Since I've been home I've sort of been like a zombie, head spinning every time I get up, doing a lot of sleeping. Just feeling crappy all around. I am suppose to have broth and jello 3x a day but I cant get it in, I'm not hungry at all and I still have a lot of gas pains. I have not been drinking enough water or enough of my protein supplement it is just way to much fluid for me to stomach. Hopefully it will get better within the next few days! I'll update you soon!

Surgery Day!!!
I arrived at Lahey Clinc at 5:30 this morning and waiting 15 minutes before checking in. Once check in my husband I proceded to the Ambulatary Room where we signed in again. A nurse came out and took me to change into a Johnny and had me put my belonging in a bright pink bag which then she gave to my husband for safe keeping.
After that, we headed into a room which had about 10 beds I would say. They were filled with people all having different kinds of surgeries. Then one by one the nurse, anesthiologist and my surgon Dr. Sillin all came in to ask me tons of questions, pretty much all the same. Anesthesia started my IV at that time and gave me what I like to call "Happy Juice" lol Actually its just a med to calm you down. ThankfullyI was already calm so the H-Juice just added to it, I was a bit gigley after getting it honestly. =)
I do remember being wheeled into the operating room, although not in great detail because the Happy Juice had a bit of an amnesia effect. I remember them moving me 0nto the operating table.....then they strapped me in, put an oxygen mask on my face an the anestisiogist said ok you are going to go to sleep now, I said "Goodnight", and he injected it into my IV.
I woke up in recovery and spent 3 hours there ( I was only suppse to be there 1 hour but they had a rough time finding a room. Finally at 1:30 I got my own room, and I have just been sleeping on and off all day. I've gotten a lot of pain meds, my port incision is killing me and I as in tears when they wanted me to roll over to listen to my lungs. I finally did get up to pee and it felt like I had a load of bricks attached to my stomach - what a heavy feelings.
The good things are, there is a computer in my room so I cam lay in bed and blog, and that I am not hungry. I've taken 2 sips of broth and 1 bite of jello and I don' want anything t eat. Ok all well I am going to try and get some shut eye, thanks for all your prayer and good wishes!!!

I'm Back!!!
Hey ya'll! I'm back from Missouri and I had a great time! I was able to do a little bit of sight seeing, I went the 630ft into the sky to reach the tipity top of the Arch! It was very cool. I will have to post a few pics of the view from the arch for those of you who have never been. Of course the best part was being able to see family that I don't see often enough and watching my cousin Carrie get married! We had a great time!
I didn't do too terrible food wise, I tried to keep my portions in check. Although I do have to admit that I went to Culvers. It's my fave place in the midwest, we don't have any here in New England, so I had to get some frozen custard!
Well I only have 3 days left until my surgery! Isn't that crazy??? Still doesn't feel all that real. I am going to go back on liquids tomorrow and Thursday to shrink my stomach a bit and because I am kind of bloated from all the sodium in the foods from vacation. Oh and I ordered my protein supplement that I have to drink in between my broth and jello lol I bought Isopure, it's like a juice drink instead of a milky drink ewww I'm so sick of milk haha.
Oh you know what I didn't tell you guys....... after I got all that blood work done I got results and I have like a huge Vitamin D deficiency. Normal is 30-60 and I was an 11! I am kind of a freak when it comes to my skin, I protect it from the sun at all costs so I guess that is why I am deficient. lol Well they put me on a prescription to bring it up and then I have to get tested again so we will see how much it helps! Till next time you guys!

Excited!!!
So I am very excited...about 2 things. First is I head to Missouri today for my cousins wedding!
Second, I am excited about my visit with my surgeon and the lap band teaching class I attended at Lahey Clinic last night.
My surgeon is so nice, he basically just went over all the surgical options I had again (ex. bypass, the sleeve, ect.) and then told me a little bit more about the Lap Band. I asked him where my port would be and he said most likely on my right side and that I will see him 2 weeks after surgery and that my first fill should be 4-6 weeks after surgery.
So at the teaching class it was 2 hours. The first hour was given by a NP, Pam. She basically went over all the things that will happen day of surgery and while we are at the hospital. She also gave us this special stuff we have to clean our stomachs with starting 3 days prior to surgery. The 2nd hour was given by a dietician, Karen. She went over the weeks after surgery and what we will be able to eat. It was all very helpful because I didn't know what I was going to eat afterwards!!! When I come back from Missouri I'll post the 5 weeks plan she gave us!

t minus 11 days and counting...
So I am heading to Missouri in a couple of days for my cousins wedding, Saint Louis to be exact. Not my first time there, last August my mom and I went to Kansas City, MO, but I get to see the arch this time!!! We are going for 3 full days plus 2 travel days. I am concerned about the 3 full days because I think it's going to be impossible to do liquids. I am just going to have to remember to choose good things and keep in mind my portion control. I might be able to do liquids on the travel days however, which makes me feel a bit better.
Something someone has just recently shared with me Couch to 5k it's a running plan that works you up to being able to do 3 miles in 30 minutes once you've completed the 9 week program. Once I have healed from my surgery I plan to give it a go. I've always thought that I would never be able to run, but you know maybe I can! =) Only 11 days to go!

For Everyone 2 See

First off, I want to send a shout out to Kristen to tell her how thankful I am for our new friendship! She gave me a great idea to add a little bit of fruit into my diet to just help with the head hunger
Second, I need to be held accountable. This is going to be a short blog. All I want to do is jot down what I plan to eat/drink today and come back tomorrow and give a good report that I actually stuck with it! So here is the plan...
3 protein shakes 720 calories (combined)
3 servings of fruit 300 (approx.)
10+ glasses of water
Sounds easy enough, let's give it a go!

Head Hunger
"Everyone has a weakness.
If your weakness is food,
you just happen to wear it for
the whole world to see."
you just happen to wear it for
the whole world to see."
Holy cow how true is that? I heard someone say some rendition of that and the quote is really my interpretation of it. That just hit me in the face when I heard it. I wanted to share it all with you in hopes that you it might inspire you to get control of your eating habit. It definitely did that for me!
It's been a few days since I have blogged, and the truth is, I've been trying to avoid it. I wanted so badly to start this full on liquid diet until my surgery....I do so well all day long and then when I get home from work at 8:30, I end up eating supper. I am struggling so much with my head hunger.

Luckily, I am very fortunate to have many friends at lapbandtalk who are so supportive and encouraging. Some say I am too hard on myself. I love you guys! Today I was watching this show called "I Lost It" it is on Discovery Health, and I could just relate to so many stories. You guys should really check it out, it will make you feel like you aren't alone in this battle against the bulge! So from now on I am going to try and take this liquid diet one day at a time. Being overweight is about not being in control of what you eat, even though I want to be in control I have felt like that is not possible, but you know what, it is! I'm taking control - move over head hunger lol.
