Wednesday Weigh In

Last Weigh In Weight: 169lbs (4/14)
This Wednesday’s Weight: 170lbs

So of course it's that time of the month so let's add 2-3lbs just from that. Hopefully next week I will weigh in around 165lbs that is my goal!
People are telling me left and right I look smaller and I'm so taken back by it because of the reflection the scale is giving me.

I've had a really off past week in terms of my schedule, hence the reason you have not heard from me. I went to Cape Cod this past weekend. I sang at a church down there on Sunday so I decided to make a weekend of it last minute. We didn't do much it was rainy but we had a really nice time away for a little while.
I sort of have no emotion when it comes to this plateau anymore. I've been here before and eventually I know I get past it so I'm keeping my chin up because I know I will do the same again!! )

Something New

I’m kind of a creature of habit so when something that has been working all of the sudden is not working anymore, it’s hard for me to change that routine. However, at this point I have to change it up. I’ve counted points in the past (weight watchers) and it’s a great program, it definitely works. The only problem I encountered was that when I stopped counting the weight slowly came back, but this is a whole new ballgame now with the aide of the Lap-Bank® so I am going to give counting points a try again.

Here is the breakdown of the amount of points I get……

  • 2 points for being a woman
  • 4 points for being between the ages of 17-24
  • 1 point for being between the heights 5’0” – 5’9”
  • 17 points because you take the first 2 # of your weight (keep going up and down between 169 and 170 so I just went with 170)
  • 0 points because I have a sedentary job
That is a grand total of 24 points I am allowed for the day. I’ve been using this website for calculating how many points are in what I am eating.

I am a HUGE advocate for the Lap-Band® but I also don’t think it’s the only thing that can help people loose weight but now that I have this band it will help me with self control and when I stop counting points I won’t gain the weight back because I have the band, that is so relieving!

I won’t be weighing in tomorrow as this post pretty much lets you know I am still dealing with this stubborn plateau. I will report back next week and hopefully after a week of points counting I will have good news!!!

Ultimate Plateau

Call me frustrated because that is what I am. Someone please explain to me what is going on here.....out of the last 10 days I have gone to the gym all but 2....

Sat. 9th - Went to the Gym
Sun. 10th - Skipped
Mon. 11th - Went to the Gym
Tues. 12th - Wend to the Gym
Wed. 13th - Skipped
Thurs. 14th - Went to the Gym
Fri. 15th - Went to the Gym
Sat. 16th - Went to the Gym
Sun. 17th - Went to the Gym
Mon. 18th - Going to the gym after work today

The scale does not like me anymore I am convinced of it.  So looking at what I've done in the last 10 days I am trying to come up with some things I can improve upon that will hopefully help...

  1. Drink more water...I am aiming for (5) 24oz bottles per day.
  2. Start circuit training again because the more muscle you have the more you burn
  3. Don't eat after 8PM
  4. Continue working out 1 hour per day.
This is all I can come up with, let me know if you have any other ideas!

Thursday Weigh In

Last Wednesday’s Weight: 169lbs (4/6)
This Thursday’s Weight: 169lbs

Sorry that I am a day late, I actually started this yesterday and then time ran away from me and I never got to finish!

Of course I am not happy at all that this is the 2nd week in a row that I have stayed at 169lbs but I have to tell you, I feel fantastic! I’ve been hitting the gym all week long and not consuming more than 1,200 calories per day and I feel smaller even though the scale has not budged.

I am concerned that I won't hit my 10lbs loss goal for the cruise, but at this point it's beginning not to matter to me so much. I knew that once you get smaller that it's harder to loose weight but I really underestimated just how hard I am going to have to work to hit my goal now. There is no messing around...this is the big leagues. =)

NSV Report

I have a couple of NSV’s (non-scale victories) to report….

Well a few months ago I went to Old Navy and bought new work pants (long overdue) and I got size 14’s that fit like a glove!!!! Well yesterday I went to New York & Company to look for some crops/shorts ect for my cruise. I began trying on 18’s because I was convinced that their sizes ran really small haha I actually went into the store not even believing that the 18’s would fit. I felt dumb because they like fell off me. Long story short, I ended up buying a size 12!!! Even more exciting is I tried on the 10’s as well and was able to zip and button them. I kept the receipt for my 12’s because if I am able to drop the 10lbs I want I am going back to exchange them for a size 10 before the cruise!!! Yahoo!

Another NSV…..My wedding ring and band are a size 8.25 and they have been too big to wear for a while now. Yesterday I finally dropped them off to get resized! The smallest ring size I have ever worn is a 7 so I was expecting to get back around that but the man at the jewelry store kept going smaller and smaller and smaller he was actually able to get the 6 on me but it was hard to get off so we went with the 6.5! That is almost 2 ring sizes lost; you don’t even realize you gain that much in your hands. Craziness. I do have bigger bones though; I don’t have a petite frame by any means. He was feeling my finger and said that I don’t have much on there and he imagines I’ll get to about a size 6 ring finger.

It’s so nice to share some NSV’s because it’s so important that the number on the scale isn’t your only goal. =) Have you had any NSV’s? I’d love to hear about some other people’s recent non-scale victories. NSV’s make me happy. lol.

Fill/Unfill Craziness

So yea I could not even drink any water yesterday and had the worst heartburn you could EVER imagine. So I called the doc and left work a little early yesterday to get an unfill. I got .3 of the .4 taken out to start and then drank some water to see how it felt.

The water was definitely going through but I could feel it laboring. I personally think it was because my stomach was so irritated from the day’s events and the trauma of being practically closed shut. However, I decided and so did the doc to take out the other .1cc because I didn’t want to chance not being able to eat. So I am back at 7.8cc’s like I was before this fill/unfill craziness. Am I the only one who has this crazy stuff happen with fills? I’m nuts.

I think I learned a lesson here. Instead of getting a fill to “fix” my tiny plateau perhaps I need to evaluate what I have been eating and how much I have been working out. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this band is a tool and only one leg of the tripod. So what it comes down to is that life has been hectic and I have not been working out or really paying attention to my food intake. So as of today I am logging hard core again, especially for the next month. I AM GOING TO LOOSE 10LBS before my cruise.

Originally my goal was 150lbs for the cruise….then I realized that was impossible so I reevaluated and changed it to 156lbs which is my next short term goal to hit….and now that is 13lbs in 1 month. That is possible I imagine but I’m not sure how possible for me. So although I would be happy if I hit the 156lbs by the cruise right now I am aiming for 159lbs. When I was 16yrs and went on Weight Watchers I got down to 159lbs which is the smallest I’ve ever been in my adult body so to get back there by the cruise would make me the happiest gal in the world! =)

Wednesday Weigh In

Last Wednesday’s Weight: 169lbs
This Wednesday’s Weight: 169lbs

No weight loss this week, blah! That is what happens when you don’t have enough restriction. Oh well I’m into a new week now.

So my fill yesterday was interesting…..I feel like I always have an interesting fill experience. I got to Lahey Clinc after work but my nurse practitioner forgot I was coming in a little late and left! This could have been disastrous because I don’t live close to the hospital; I am about 30-40 minutes away. However, I totally lucked out and one of the surgeons was still there catching up on some paperwork and was kind enough to give me a fill.

So here is where it gets interesting…….at my last fill I got .1cc (that’s 1/10 of a whole cc). I think the doctor looked at my chart real quick because he said I got 1 last time and now thinking back I think he thought I got a whole cc because as he is filling me up he said “I’m going to give you .4, so less than last time.” At the time I was totally cool with that I’m like “yeah that sounds like a good idea” and then when I got home I was like “Oh no that is way more than last time.”

So we will see what happens. I imagine .4 is too much because last time I got .4 in November it was way too much and after a week I had to go get some taken out. Blah, the tales of a bandster.

So for now I am drinking my Premium Nutrition Protein Drink for breakfast and I have no idea what lunch will bring. I have soup but I don’t know if I am going to be able to eat it, stay tuned……

T.G.F.F.

Thank God For Fills!! Legit I prayed and thanked God! I've been eating way way too much this past week. My restriction just went out the window and so did my self control. I'm so upset the scale isn't budging at all! I am going for a fill today.

So you will never guess what I did this weekend........I went over my friend (and her boyfriend's) house on Saturday and he is a very good cook and cooked up some awesome Chicken Marsala and plopped the biggest portion on my plate you have ever seen haha. So I started to eat and then started to panic because I got full especially fast and was like "Oh My Gosh - OMG they are going to be so offended that I am not eating more" hahaa. So I looked at my husband and said "I have to tell them." So I told them about my weight loss surgery. The first people in 1yr and 10months. Other than them, my husband and my mom and dad have been the only ones who knew. They were super cool about it (I knew they would be) but I threw them so off guard I got a little kick out of it lol.

Now this doesn't mean I'm going to start shouting it from the rooftops I did ask them to keep it between the 2 of them because it is very private to me. I am hoping that actually happens! We will see!!!
