www.NeverSayDiet.com

I wanted to share this website with you, http://www.neversaydiet.com/tools/calories-burned-calculator. It is a Calories Burned Calculator that can calculate everything from Running to Music Playing. It is really neat. I found it because I was trying to figure out how many calories 30 minutes of bike riding burned. Check it out!!

Eating Out

Ok so for the first 3-4 weeks after banding I hardly ate out at all. However, this week end I ate out 3 times I think it was! Not that I had bad things, but I am eating too much when I go out! I'm thinking "oh I can have one more bite" and I never get sick but I do get to the point of being pretty uncomfortable. Man o man its so hard for me to visualize 4oz of food when I see just so much food and I want to eat it all! If you have come up with any helpful hints please let me know because I really need to hear them! My husband and I did decide though that we were going to limit ourselves to one dinner out a weekend, not only because we need to eat better but to put extra cash in our pockets as well!

Oh and I wanted to mention to everyone, that my friend Kristen who also has a lap band blog just got engaged!!!!! I am so happy for her! Congrats Kristen! Take a peek at her blog guys she just posted about it!
Thanks for reading! Love yas!

Down 2 More!

Well today was weigh in day (although I do have to admit that sometimes I weigh mid week) and the scale was down another 2lbs! So that is 3lbs since my fill on Tuesday, that is amazing! I'm at a total of 17lbs. It won't be long till I hit my first goal of 225lbs! Do you think that is doable by the end of August at the very least?? How are all of you guys doing with weight loss???

Almost a Fable of a Fill

I got to Lahey at 9:15 this morning for my first fill appointment. My surgeon came in (this was the first time I have seen him since surgery), and he asked me questions about how I was doing. No exageration, this took a whole 3 minutes if not less. Then he says to me, "so you'll be back in 4 weeks and we'll do your first adjustment", and I was like "Whoa" lol I said "I was told by the Nurse Practitioner that you would be doing it today." So he went and checked and then this darling of a nurse Pam came in and gave me the fill. I was so relieved! I was thinking to myself "I did not drive 40 minutes to talk to my surgeon for 3 minutes and tell him I feel great!"

Ok so I am the BIGGEST baby when it comes to needles, also not an exageration. This was the easiest, most painless thing I have EVER had done to me. It's a million times better than having your blood drawn. She prepped my stomach with this brown stuff and then had me do like half a sit up and she felt around for the port. Then I layed back down, she had it in, in one shot and 3 seconds later was pulling it out and I was done. I really could not believe how easy it was. They put 2 1/2 cc's in my 10cc band. I have another fill in 3weeks, August 14th.

(not me, just a photo. but it looks just like this)

If you have any fill related questions send them my way I'll do my best to answer ladylapband@verizon.net

Oh and also, I am going to add a little section right above my stats called "Blurbs" where I am going to post about things that aren't really justify a whole blog! Thanks for reading!

Fill Tomorrow!

Hey everyone! Tomorrow is my first fill!!! I don't have much to say other than that lol. The scale hasn't moved in a while so I am going to beg my doctor for a generous fill. My hubby is coming along so hopefully I will have a pic of the fill being performed for you! Oh and I've decided instead of posting month by month photos I am going to post goal to goal photos, my goal is 25lbs at a time so in 10 more lbs I will post my first pic!

Getting Personal

I was thinking, that you all know that I have gotten the lap band, but you don't know how I got to the place in my life where I needed it. So I wanted to take the time today and share a little more of my life's story with you.

I would say around age 7-8 is when it became obvious that I weighed more than other children my own age. I'm not really sure why I started gaining. I had a great childhood, I guess I just wanted to eat what I wanted and made it very hard for my parents to enforce good eating habits. I once remember sitting at the table for a very long time because I wouldn't eat steak. However to my defense I don't eat steak today either because I still don't like it, and I never did end up eating it that day either because I am just that stubborn sometimes. From about age 10-13 I lived on those cheese filled hot dogs - yuck, they make me wanna gag today lol but that is pretty much all I would eat then.

When age 14 came around I think I really began to get a grasp on how much bigger I was than all the girls my own age. Not that I was gigantic but I think they all weighed around 110 and I was between 150-160. The next few years was a bunch of starving and purging, nothing to the point of a severe problem because I was so sick not eating for long periods of time and I hated to throw up. However I felt very inadequate and not pretty because I didn't look like everyone else.

When I was 16 years old I asked my mother if I could join a gym and instead she took me to weight watchers. I stepped on the scale and it sale 181lbs. That was horrifying! I stuck with it for 3 months and dropped down to 159lbs, to this day that is the best I ever remember feeling in my entire life. I'm so sad to say as I think back I still thought I was fat at that time. What I wouldn't give to get back there.

Well, 2 years later and I was still working out a bit and eating a little better but slowly all that weight I had lost crept back on and then some. When I was 18 years old I weighed about 190lbs. I still felt pretty good, I'm not sure why (I think I was in denial that I had gained it back.) However, the weight didn't matter, because I met the man of my dream, who also happened to be my first real boyfriend. The first month or so we probably both lost 10lbs because we were so nervous to eat around each other haha, but then as we get settled in our relationship food became the center of everything we did.

Less than 2 years into our relationship, I had gained 60lbs going from 190lbs to 252lbs. I don't need to explain to you how terrible I felt because I believe we all have the same feelings when we have reached out highest weights. I hated life, I hated myself and I gave up on all my dreams. We later got engaged and I had every intent to loose some weight before the wedding but instead I just kept eating to maintain my 252lbs. About 6 months prior to the wedding I had looked into the Lap Band, but put it on hold because I knew my insurance would be changing once I got married. We got married on September 21, 2008 and on December 8, 2008 I went to my first seminar on how to start the process so that I could have the Lap Band Surgery.

I am almost 1 month post op now, and I have set a very high goal for myself to loose 125lbs. I want to be half the person I am today. I want to get this fat suit off of me and be the person I have always felt that I am inside. Check out my pictures below. Thanks for reading!

Lesson Learned

This past Saturday I had a busy day! I had to be at the office at 10am and then I held an Open House from 11-2 and then meet other clients at the office at 3pm and we went out to view homes and I didn't get hom until about 7:30pm. Well on my way to the office at 9:30 I had grabbed 2 of those little egg and cheese wake up wraps from Dunkin Donuts which was 14g of protein, and I was not hungry all day long, I forced myself to eat when I got home.

So I decided to reevaluate. I have been eating anywhere from 5-6ounces of food 3x a day but when I saw how little I was hungry I thought I should try to eat less and see how hungry I get. Well all day yesterday I had 3.5ounces of food per meal and it was perfect! I didn't feel like I was deprived of anything and I wasn't hungry all day. I am going to try and keep doing this.

I have been having a really hard time getting enough water. Not like a physically hard time, just a hard time focusing enough to drink it all. So starting tomorrow I am going to try what my friend Liz suggested to me......I have a water bottle that holds 20ounces and everyday I am going to put 4 rubber bands around it and everytime I finish the bottle I will take a rubber band off. The remaining bands will signify how many bottles I have left to drink. Such a great idea, espeially for me because I am such a visual person.

So back to eating less....I learned a lesson, I'm not as hungry as I thought I was! My first fill is next Tuesday, one week and I really wanted to loose 15lbs before then so I'm gonna be working hard this week to get another 1lb off!!! Hope you are all doing well!

I think I'm gonna get a Bike

Wow I don't usually post 2 days in a row but I have some things to say and I'm bored at work so you know lol........ first of all I was thinking about buying a bike, not like a road racer or mountain bike like a ride around town bike. Anyway I found this really cool one (its red I love it haha) and I saw it online at many stores but I found the best price at Walmart for $159.00 here's a pic of it....... so it's called Polaris IQ 26" Women's Cruiser Bike, I've read about 5 or 6 reviews and people really seem to like it. I think I'm gonna get it, anyone have any comments? I also want to buy some roller blades so if anyone has any suggestions on what is a good kind to get I would love to hear because I dont know anything!

Oh and last but not least one of my new friends, Kristen, she is being banded next month and just started a blog you should go and check it out and follow her! Kristen's Blog

Yikes

I was eating some scrambled eggs this morning, like I do many mornings and all of the sudden I thought I was going to die! Okay, that was a little dramatic, I didn't think I was going to die but the feeling I was getting was not good and I was worried. I must have not chewed a piece well enough because I think I was getting that "stuck" feeling that people talk about. You know when the food you eat is having a hard time passing through the band. I'm not really even sure how to explain how it feels, it's kind of a tight feeling and it's like a pain in your chest. I was sitting down and it seemed to be getting worse and worse so then I thought "I always hear people saying it's better to stand up" so I quickly stood up and after a couple of minutes the pain went away. Holy cow people all I can say is chew chew chew chew chew! I mean chew to the point where it's the consistency it would be if you had just put it through the food processor, no joke. Believe me it's not something you want to experience. Not only did it not feel good but it was kind of scary honestly. On a side note, I have not weighed myself recently, I'm trying not to get scale crazy so I think I will just weigh myself on Fridays from no on. I'm hoping I lost another lb but I'm not expecting it, you know most doctors say that they don't expect you to loose much of anything before your first fill. I feel great with the 13lbs I've lost so far though!

Questions from Sarah

One of my readers, Sarah sent me a few questions so I wanted to take the time and answer them here. She wanted me to share a little about my experience so far with the lapband and how I liked my surgeon. She also wanted to know my height, pre op weight and what insurance company I have.

ANSWER:
Well, so far so good with the band! I really like it. I don't feel any restriction, (my first fill is on July 21st) I mostly feel full about 10 minutes after I've already eaten. However, if I eat about 4-5 ounces of food I stay full anywhere from 6-8 hours which is something I have never experienced before, its cool! My surgeon was a really nice man. His name is Dr. Sillin and he is located at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Pre op I weighed 252lbs and my height is 5'5 which gave me a BMI of 41.9. I was worried about insurance covering me because I was on the low end of the required BMI but they approved me even before they found out if I had any co morbities, Aetna is my insurance. I had heard Aetna was one of the harder to get them to approve you but I had a very easy time and have heard of lots of other people have a fairly easy time with them as well.

Thanks Sarah!

Yummmmmyy!!!

So I wanted to let you in on a new found love of mine. My mom was at Costco and she tried a sample of Chicken Sausage by Aidells and she liked it so she brought a pack of it home. Well I got really excited as I read the nutrition lable.......100 calories for one, no carbs, and 13 grams of protein! They are essentially a Chicken hot dog that's good for you so I was so excited. The picture above is the Chicken Apple Flavor (not what I had but I couldn't find the pic of the one I had.) I think I just had the original kind, a little spicy, they were really good. Two of them weighed just 4.2oz which I thought was perfect for my new pouch especially seeing nothing I have eaten has made me full but boy was I wrong! I was sooooo full after eating 2! So I say start with one but I just wanted to share this with you guys that they are really yummmmmyyy!!!
