28 Days To A Better Me - A Personal Challenge

Okay, I am so ready to admit it, I've been bad! I so thought I was out of the woods, that food wasn't going to control me anymore but I guess you could say I relapsed. That said, I am not dwelling on it I am just here to say that I am ready to get sober again lol in a sense anyway.

Are any of you watching Dr. Oz???? He's so fantastic and he says it takes 28 days to break a habits and create new ones. So I am challenging myself to make 5 changes (that I have chosen) for the next 28 days. So here are the changes I have decided to make......

  1. Replace Breakfast with a Protein Drink

  2. Drink 64oz of Water and/or Crystal Light Daily

  3. No Snacking, none at all!!

  4. Participate in 1 Hour of Cardio Activity 7 Days a Week!

  5. Strengthen my Core by doing Pilates 7 Days a Week!

Now, is this a tall order, yes!!!! Can you imagine if I actually did this though??? Wow I can't wait to see what my body looks like in 28 days! Keep a look out because I am going to be posting regularly, my triumphs and my struggles. Day 1 is Oct 1st!!!

Well Hello

Hey Guys! Sorry I kind of took off there for a bit, I am still working this whole thing out. I am getting that stuck feeling a few times a week and I am frustrated. Mostly frustrated with myself because my food choices have been poor and I'm getting stuck pretty much because my band is telling me to knock it off lol. I am so ready to get back on track because getting stuck really hurts and it really hard to hide when you have eaten out.

On a good note, Monday the 21st is my one year wedding anniversary so my hubbie and I are doing a bunch of fun things this weekend! Please talk to me about how your fills are going and what you have experienced because I REALLY need sosme guidance!

Update

So I have been away for a few days trying to figure this all out. Everything I ate for about the first 3 or 4 days was hurting like crazy and I was wondering what was going on! Finally I think I have figured it out. So long as I chew really really well, and eat very slow I seem to be just fine. The moment I forget either one of those things, watch out! I am down to 228lbs that is a 24lb loss which makes me 3lbs away from my first goal! I am so excited! It has taken a bit longer than I thought it was going to, but I am okay with that. I feel great, and that is all that matters to me! Thanks for reading guys, let me know how you all are doing too!

Ouch!

Ok so I ate 3oz of protein, felt just fine! Then about 5 minutes later, look out! I thought I might die lol. It was such a tight feeling in my chest and I felt like the food was in my throat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is not even the worst of it, then my mouth was like watering like crazy ( I think maybe this is what they called frothing?? ) Well, eventually it went away, probably took about 15 minutes but I felt find after that. Part 2 of the story, I took my mom out for her birthday to get lunch. I decided to just get soup but she gave me literally 2 wicked small bites of her chicken and I got really uncomfortable all over again, not as bad as the first time but it took a good 10 minutes before I felt ok enough to eat my soup.
So apparently this fill has given me some restriction and I need to take it a bit easier!!! I guess because I didn't feel anything from the first 2 fills that I expected to feel nothing from this one as well. Not the case and I am really really excited about that!! I am a little nervous to eat real food like chicken and what not because it hurt so much! Any suggestions??

5 Ways Sugar Sneaks Into Your Food

We naturally are attracted to sweet foods. I mean, they’re delicious, but our sweet tooth may be getting us in trouble. Try weaning yourself off of added sugars by limiting sweet foods and drinks, whether it contains sugar or not (sweetener). The idea is to minimize the intake of sweet flavors, so that you can maintain your sweets cravings. This takes time.

Most importantly, know what you’re eating. Avoid processed foods with added sugar and go for whole foods with natural sugar. While this sounds easy, there are sneaky sugary culprits out there that you may not be aware of—check out our list.

In your drink. At your next meal, be aware of what you're drinking.
Liquid calories from sugar are a major culprit for weight gain. By cutting one soda a day for a year, you could lose up to 15 pounds. When it comes to alcohol, cocktails made of bottled mixers, juices, sugary sodas or tonic water—added with liquor—are sugar-filled. Have a glass of wine or your spirit of choice with soda water.

Coffee break. Ever wonder why Starbuck’s iced coffee is so delicious? It may be because you’re getting the sweetened version. Ask for your grande, unsweetened, and add your own sweetener (one Splenda makes perfect) or no sweetener, so you have control over your drink. With this trick, you could cut up to 24 grams of sugar—you entire day’s worth of sugar in one drink.

Snack time. The next time you pick up a yogurt. Choose wisely. The fruit at the bottom is sugar-packed. I’d try Fage 0% Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and a teaspoon of honey.

Dining out. Most of the time, dishes with the keyword "glazed" in the name usually means high sugar. Stick with simple grilled foods, if you're watching your weight.

Sometimes I think I’m being pretty healthy when I eat anything with fruit in it. While that may be the case, we still need to watch our portion control when it comes to foods and drinks with fruit juice concentrate, which generally is a red flag for sugar. For example, juices, jams, jellies or fruit snacks.

While you can’t cut out all sugar (or life would be miserable), the best thing to do is to think of sweets as an extra—not a requirement at every meal—and treat sugar as an added flavor enhancer to nutritious whole foods. Now that’s the sweet life.

My 3rd Fill!!!

So I just got home from Lahey where I had my 3rd fill today. She gave me another 1.5 cc's which brings me up to 5.5cc's. I am on liquids today and soft food tomorrow so I don't expect to know if I feel any restriction until I start eating on Friday. She was only going to give me 1cc but when she figured out how unsatisfied I have been with eating the right amounts of food, she decided to up it by .5, and I am so happy about that! My next fill is scheduled for 10/2, but like always if I feel like I need it sooner I will bump it up or bump it out if I feel like I don't need another just then. I am really close to my 1st goal of 225lbs and I am also challenging myself to be at 199lbs by Thanksgiving/My Birthday. On lapbandtalk.com there is a group of people doing a Turkey Day Challenge where we basically just set out own goals to reach my Thanksgiving. I am hoping I will make mine, but I won't beat myself up if I don't because that won't do me any good! One way or another I will hit 199lbs!
