Did you know......
- Currently, approximately 15 million Americans are 100 pounds or more overweight; however, only 1% of the clinically eligible population is being treated through weight-loss surgery.
- According to the ASMBS, about 25% of potential weight-loss surgery patients are denied insurance coverage three times before getting approval, with 60% of these patients reporting worsening health during the waiting period.
Here's the scope on how you might be able to win a FREE surgery!
Information about the Live My C.H.O.I.C.E. contest
Our hope is that the contest will provide those who may not have the resources to receive weight-loss surgery a chance to make a change in their lives. Through the contest, three inspirational people will receive a LAP-BAND® System procedure and one year of follow-up care, compliments of Allergan, Inc. (surgeon will be of the winners’ choosing). Through stories from people who have had to deal first-hand with societal and financial obstacles, the contest will help shine light on the reality of what people, like you, have to work through to undergo weight-loss surgery. We hope that through their stories, others may feel empowered to make a change to regain their health.
How to Enter: To enter the contest, all you have to do is submit a short essay or video about how your weight has impacted your health and your life, and why you think the LAP-BAND® System may be the tool to help you achieve your weight-loss goal. A family member or close friend may also submit a story on someone’s behalf. http://www.lapbandchoicecontest.com/

The C.H.O.I.C.E. Campaign held an online contest where LAP-BAND® patients were able to share their stories for a chance to go to Washington D.C. and have their voices heard. Watch their videos and read their stories to see how weight-loss surgery impacted their lives.
